Content Development FAQs
How much information
can the CD Business card hold?
The CD Business Card holds approx 40 MB to
160MB The Recordable Cards hold 50MB & 185MBs.
What does that translate into?
A 40mb CD Business Card hold a minimum of
3 1/2 minutes of video (1 min. video = about 10mbs) We have
seen as much as 100 minutes of interactive presentation in
40 MB.
Why the variation in time of content?
It depends on what the client desires and in what format the
information is presented. The minimum time is based on full
video e.g. a movie clip or TV commercial. The maximum time
is based on interactive presentation.
Can
the content be text based? Yes, if that is what
the client desires. For example, if a client wishes to distribute
a training manual to a large group. This text could be placed
on a CD-card and mailed to each person in a very cost-effective
manner. Another example: The makers of a new prescription
medication would like to give their presentation to busy
doctors.
We could place a one-minute commercial on the card along with
all of the medical notes and information.
I want to produce
the content "in house". What are the finished specifications?
The content should have an auto-run program so that the CD-card
will play automatically It also must have the programming
included for ease of playback. The content must be on a CD-R.
We will test the CD-R prior to press to ensure quality playback.
All of these requirements must be met for the client to receive
the standard pricing.
What are the minimum requirements
of a computer for the performance of the CD-card?
Minimum requirements are based on programming. But the cards
operate the same as a full size CD. If the Mac or PC has a
tray loading CD-ROM drive the cards will physically work but
once again they must be programmed for that operating system
to work.
Recordable FAQs
What is a recordable CD Business
Card? A Biz Card CD-R is molded into the shape
of a business card or mini disc that can be burned in any
standard CD burner with a tray loading CD Drive.
How does it work if it isn't round?
The card fits in the inner tray of a standard CD Rom tray.
These cards will not play in imacs or pcs with vacuum loading
CD rom players or Car stereo CD players.
What sizes do they come in?
A 50mb rounded edge, a 50mb rectangular and a 185mb 3" mini
round.
What speed do I burn them at?
We recommend no faster than 2x but the cards are compatible
up to 8x speed.
How do I burn them? Write
all the data you want on the card to a full size CD rom and
test it in a seperate machine. If it works the way you want
it to then insert the full size CD you burnt into your standard
CD rom drive and copy that data to the cards. If you try to
write the data directly to the cards we have found that some
burners will come back with an error when they are trying
to format the cards to write to. They are looking for a full
size 650mb CD to write to. But when you copy from a CDR to
the card it doesn't format the card for writing first. It
will copy the format from the master.
How do I get my artwork onto the
CD? You can purchase photo-quality paper labelsÝ
form our online order store that will attach to the face of
the recordables (like stickers). We recommend Adobe Photoshop

most inkjet printers. Contact us for label templates.

card or full CD. A replicated CD or CD Biz card is manufactured
from a mirror master. You provide the Full CD master and we
create what is called a mirror master. That mirror master
is a plate that is installed on our replication line. Your
CDs are then pressed from plastic and metal with an exact

Artwork Questions
What kind of art is on the front
of the card? This is a silkscreen process and may
include up to four colors plus white. What this means is that
the client has the option of a white background and up to
four colors either spot or CMYK. If the client does not specify
"plus white" the background will be silver.
How do I get the artwork to you?
Once you've decided upon a card, we will email you a template
that will have the specs of the printable space for that particular
card. You will need either Photoshop or Illustrator to use
this template. Set up your artwork using the template. The
cover art needs to be supplied with PMS or CMYK colors in
an .EPS file with its native file and all fonts flattened
or outlined. The artfile then can be e-mailed or may be placed
on a CD-R or a zip. A full color print out should also be supplied.
Do you offer graphic services if
I can't do my own artwork? Yes we can create the
cover art for you. We will need your logos and images in 300
dpi resolution - contact us for a quote.
